What Does This IgE Test Result For Recurrent Cold And Congestion Indicate?

Hi doctor! My child is of 3 year.. He has a problem of recurring cold, block nose, sneezing, and congestion. My pediatrician suggest for ige test. In report it comes 110. Is it serious. Is he asthmatic. My doctor advised budecort inhaler twice a day.. Is it safe to use this medicine for long period. Plz help me coz my son ' s apetite is also very weak. His weight is 13 kg only.

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...

This IgE result for 3 year child is normal. IgE antibodies are normally elevated in cases of allergic diseases such as asthma, chronic allergic rhinitis etc. However in small number of asthmatic patients this test can be normal.
So all togethar chances of asthma in your child is very less. It should be a normal rhinitis or bronchitis . Normal IgE levels does not completely rule out asthma.
