Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My son had complicated typhoid in January which lead to infection in appendix also but he recovered with medicines only and after recovery of 1 to 2 weeks he underwent for a test of the liver functioning and it showed some elevations in sgpt 142 and s g o t 80 but after a gap of 4 months his reports came back to normal but today when he again went for checkup doctor advised to take test for lft again. His SG OT 55 sgpt 88 and Alkaline phosphatase 318 but it should be less than 147 according to the limit so what does it mean and why it changed again what should I do now is it a matter of worry please tell me if he has some problem and guide me properly. TIA
Your mentioned report suggestive of high sgpt level. Alkaline phosphatase level also high.
So gall bladder, bile duct pathology, fatty liver or hepatitis can be possible.
I suggest you investigate with ultrasonography of abdomen with special emphasis on gall bladder and liver, viral marker panel and total bilirubin estimation for primary workup. Kindly revert back with reports once done.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Parth Goswami, General & Family Physician
