What Does This Lipid Profile Test Result Indicate?

Hi, My recent Lipid profile is rather upsetting. It has been consistently beyond limits for the past 3 years but marginally. This time, the readings are strikingly closer to high risk. I lead a fairly active life that includes walking twice a day. I drink (whisky or beer) 4-6 times a month, have a fair diet, primarily vegetarian, but I smoke. I used to be a heavy smoker until 15 years ago. Now I smoke 3-5 cigarettes a day. My glucose fasting is Normal and so are other health criteria: Hemogram, Liver, Kidney and Serum and blood pressure. Lipid profiles: Total Cholestrol 260 Triglycerides 492 HDL 42 LDL 152 VLDL 66 Non HDL 218. Have been recommended Rozat F-10 once a day before dinner. I would like your best opinion. Thanks and regards

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

It may indicate hypercholesteremia.

For that you may require tablet atorvastatin after physician consultation.

Along with that avoid fatty foods.

Do regular exercise for 30 to 40mins daily.

Kindly do electrocardiogram, 2 D Echo after physician consultation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr Shyam Kale, Family and general physician
