What Does This MRI Of Ankle Report Indicate?

I had a MRI done of my ankle and these are the results...Let me first say that I broke my ankle June of 2013...Results: 1. Split tear of the peroneus brevis tendon. 2. Osteochondral injury to the anterolateral aspect of the talar dome. 3. Diffuse subcutaneous edema about the ankle. Could you please explain to me what is going on with my ankle and the treatment involved. Thank you so much!

Hello and welcome to HCM,
The interpretation of MRI of ankle is as follows:
There is tear in tendon of a muscle called peroneus brevis. Tendon is the structure which attaches the muscle to bone.
Osteochondral injury implies injury to cartilage of the tarsal bone, Tarsal bone is one of the bones of the ankle joint.
In addition to these injuries, there is edema or accumulation of fluid in subcutaneous tissue.
To summarize the ankle joint has sustained soft tissue injuries to tendon and cartilage.
Rest and immobilization for atleast 21 days will be required to allow healing of the soft tissue.

Thanks and take care
