Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Does This MRI Report For Head Pressure Indicate?
I am a 52 y/o female with head pressure, neck pain and shoulder pain for many months. MRI of cervical spine showed c3 to c6 mild to moderate foraminal narrowing. At each level is disc odtephyte complex. at c6-c7 the disc odtephyte complex eccentric to left. Moderate to severe left foraminal narrowing, Mild to moderate right foraminal narrowing. Minimal central canal stenosis. Clinical correlation with c7 radiculopathy suggested. Can this cause head pressure? Treatment right now are NSAID with PT with traction. can this be treated conservatively and be successful?
As the MRI report is showing the neck pain and shoulder pain can be explained by foraminal narrowing causing radiculopathy and also have osteophyte complexes, canal narrowing and so on. It is difficult to say whether such changes in cervical spine can cause pressure in head. I would advise you to consult your Neurologist and Neurosurgeon to see whether you need additional brain MRI and other studies to know the cause of head pressure and also to discuss whether the cervical canal narrowing needs surgical correction and further procedures. Surely the conservative management has to be done as you are already getting the physiotherapy and anti-inflammatory medications. Whether cervical traction will really help you not is questionable. You Physiotherapist can tell you the best.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
