what is diffuse bulge with left foraminal annular tear of L4-L5 disc. as per MRI report. What is treatment method. Time for recovery. This happened to my wife as she fell-down with impact four weeks ago fractured left leg .Lost sensation in the foot below ankle.
Thanks for the details provided. -The intervertebral discs are made of annulus fibrosis (outer margin) and nucleus pulposus (Inner content) . -A disc bulge is a word commonly used to describe a slight outpouching of the disc. Disc bulge imply that the disc appears symmetric with a small amount of outpouching, and no significant herniation. -Annular tear is the tear of the outer margin called the annuus fibrosis and this causes the nucleus pulpous to leak and resemble the annulus fibrosis. This causes the disc to lose its integrity eventually dehydrate and shrink. -Treatment-Annuloplasty. This depends upon the grade of tear as few tears can heal by themselves with the help of analgesics and steroids.
Thank You
