I am a 63 yo male . About 2 months ago a stepladder collapsed and I tore rotator cuff . MRI report RIGHT SHOULDER 7/24 Complete tears of the supraspinatus and infraspinatus tendons with marked retraction as well as edema within the supraspinatus and infraspinatus muscles indicative of muscle strain injury. Partial interstitial type tear of the subscapularis tendon. Small glenohumeral and acromioclavicular joint effusions. Small to moderate subcoracoid bursal effusion. Combination of degenerative changes and congenital downsloping of the distal clavicle and acromion with associated impingement upon the underlying supraspinatus muscle and tendon. I since have been working around the house , including hammering nails and lifting ! pain?weakness in lifting hammer and a catchy area with pain while raising hammer . No terrible pain at night and only moderate pain with certain movements . I am considering not having surgery even though 2 Drs have recommended it . Will I suffer if I elect no surgery ?
HI Well come to HCM I really appreciate your concern, it is all depends upon the clinical symptoms if you could make it alright even without the surgery then it is not necessary to have the surgery and it leave some deformity and makes it difficult for routine then you have to have the surgery, hope this information helps, take care and have a nice day.
