What Does This MRI Report Indicate?

Hi I am a 5 6 and #158 female who walks 5 miles a day. I also do yoga. Recently, I had MRI and show full thickness tear of supraspinatus tendon with torn segment retracted 9.5mm. Mild enlargement and intrasubstance signal alteration in the distal subscapularis tendon. I also had a steroid injection relieving my discomfort for one week. What is bothering most is I can t sleep due to this constant aching in spite of taking 80 mg ibuprofen before bed. NOW I AM NOTICE G THE ACHING IS TRAVELERS DOWN MY ARM AND SOME TIME INTO MY HAND. WOULD SURGERY BE I NICE TED IN THIS CASe?

Welcome at HCM
I appreciate your health concerns
As there is full thickness torn supraspinatus muscle I don't think it is going to heal on its own. Your surgeon will decide about it taking into consideration your physical examination.
Just on basis of. MRI , surgery seems to be better option but It has to be correlated with physical findings.
Hope it helps
