Moderate central canal stenosis moderate lateral recess stenosis mild right lateral recess stenosis and moderate bilateral neuroforaminal stenosis L4-5 mild bilateral recess stenosis and mild left neuroframinal stenosis L5-S1. Congenitally foreshortened pedicles of lumbar vertebrae.. This was what my MRI discovered. Do I need surgery??
The need of surgery can not be determined by the mere reading of 4 lines of MRI report. The report is indicative of stenosis at places of lower lumbar vertebra regions, however associated symptoms co relation is of paramount importance for any further comments.
* In mild to moderate symptoms, primary care with: - Postural adaptations - Assisted physiotherapy - Weight control (if obese) - Analgesic and anti-inflammatory medicines
In severe cases where medical management fails, surgery is best resort to cure.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
