DATE OF EXAM: Jun 25 2016 12:06PM WFM 0560 - MRI LUMBAR SPINE WO CONTRAST / ACCESSION # 0000 PROCEDURE REASON: Spinal stenosis, cervical region * * * * Physician Interpretation * * * * RESULT: Lumbar spine MRI History: Spinal stenosis Technique: Multi-sequence, multiplanar MRI of the lumbar spine was performed without IV contrast. Comparison: 3/9/2015 Counting reference: Lumbar spine levels are identified by counting up from the lumbosacral junction and will assume 5 lumbar type vertebrae. The most caudal normal disk space in the lumbar region is labeled L5/S1. Result: The L-spine is in normal alignment. The vertebral bodies are of normal height and contour. Intervertebral disk spaces are well maintained. There is disc desiccation throughout. Marrow signal is unremarkable in appearance. The spinal cord is of normal size, signal and contour. The conus tip is identified at the level of L1. L1/2: There is a focal central disc protrusion causing mild canal stenosis. L2/3: There is a broad central disc protrusion causing mild canal stenosis. This has improved compared to the prior exam. L3/4: There is a broad disc bulge causing mild canal stenosis. L4/5: There is a broad disc bulge causing mild canal stenosis. L5/1: There is a broad disc bulge causing mild canal stenosis. There is mild bilateral neuroforaminal narrowing. There is a 1.7 cm presacral simple cysts identified the level of S2 of uncertain etiology. The cyst appears to be closely associated with the small bowel wall in the region. This is unchanged when compared with the prior examination. Impression: Mild multilevel degenerative changes as described above. The previously seen L2/3 left paracentral disc protrusion has improved. Otherwise there is no significant change. Stable 1.7 cm presacral simple cysts at the level of S2 that appears to be closely associated with the small bowel wall. This may represent a benign duplication cyst. Given its stability over 1 year, no further follow-up is necessary. what does all this mean
dear sir, it simply means that you have multiple disc displaced at multiple levels and there is compression of nerves because of these displaced disc,if there are lot of symptoms like tingling and numbness and back pain then you need surgical removal of these discs which relieve the compression on nerves. thanks and regards
