Hi,
Vertebrae is the complex structure having vertebral body and posterior laminae attached to the
body of vertebra. There is central space between the body and lamina for
spinal cord. All the spaces at each vertebral level combined to form the
spinal canal through which the spinal cord passes through. Inter-vertebral disc is the structure between two vertebral bodies which acts as support for the movements of the back and also stress absorbent. In your report, the disc is degenerated which means the tissue is lost its normalcy which affects its quality of support in movements and stress relief. It may progressively protrudes out into the spinal canal or spinal foramen compressing the nerve structures.
Osteophyte growth is the growth of extra bone from the vertebral body. Mentioned it is in the posterior aspect of the body which results in canal obstruction and compression of the nerve structures. The space for spinal canal has spinal cord running through covered by meningeal membrane called
thecal sac with
cerebrospinal fluid inside. On excessive narrowing of the thecal sac compresses the spinal cord and spinal nerves and also increases the CSF pressure. Discuss with your doctor about
physiotherapy. preferable job associated posture and support splints. Parapharyngeal lymph node may be indication of pharyngeal infection which might be due to acute infection.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Pradeepraj, General & Family Physician
