Hi,
Spine is made of vertebrae, intervertebral discs,
spinal cord, ligaments and muscles along with blood vessels. Vertebra is the bony part anteriorly the vertebral body and posteriorly the vertebral arch formed by lamina with a spinal foramen in between them through which the spinal cord passes through. Between two vertebrae is the intervertebral disc which is made of soft center and elastic periphery which helps to support the vertebral movements and acts as a
shock absorber. Spinal foramen is the space between the two vertebrae through which the spinal nerves exits from the
spinal canal to supply the distal muscles.
In your report, there are osteophytes in some vertebrae which means there are marginal bone growths found in some vertebrae. Osteophytes are the bone growths found in the bone margins where there is friction between the bones.
Thecal sac is the covering of the spinal cord which runs through the spinal canal. At Vertebral levels C5-C6 and C6-C7, there is thecal sac compression due to the bulging of the intervertebral disc and osteophyte formation. But, it is also mentioned that there is no disc herniation. Management of the condition depends on the symptoms occurrence and persistence.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Pradeepraj, General & Family Physician
