Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Further narrowing of C5-C6 intervertebral disc space with enlarging endplate osteophytes. Remaining intervertebral disc spaces are grossly maintained. There is no acute fracture dislocation seen. There is advancing facet degenerative disease, left greater than right. No acute malalignment or fracture deformities Mild advancement of degenerative disc disease at C5-C6. No acute osseous. There is no fracture or subluxation. The discs show degeneration with loss of normal signal intensity in the discs. There is moderate degenerative disc disease with narrowing at C5-6. There is associated spurring and moderate generalized disc bulging. There is mild to moderate slightly asymmetric disc bulging at the C4-5, slightly more prominent to the right of midline. There is a mild to moderate focal central disc protrusion slightly flattening the anterior spinal cord at C4-5. The cervical spinal cord is otherwise normal.
Hello and welcome to HCM, The MRI of the cervical spine is showing degenerative changes in spine at the level of C5-C6. The vertebrae at this level are showing osteophytes - osteophytes are projections formed in vertebrae due to degeneration. The inter-vertebral space is maintained. In addition, there is facter degeneration also. There is bulging of disc at this level also. The inter-vertebral disc at level C4-C5 is also seen. Thus, to summarize there are degenerative changes in lower cervical spine. The bulging of disc can be prevented by rest and pain can be relieved by physiotherapy and pain killers. However, the bony changes- osteophyte formation cannot be reversed. I suggest you to consult your orthopedician with the MRI report for further clarification.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
