What Does This MRI Test Result For Back Injuries Indicate?
I have had several back surgeries. I am in severe pain. I have tried injections which does not help. My MRI states I have a Transitional vertebra elements. L1-2, l2-l3 slight disc bulge with foraminal narrowing due to intraforaminial disc bulge. L3-4 Minimal Disc bulge including intraforminal . Mild ligamentum flavum hypertrophy and facet arthropathy. There is slight thecal sac compression. L5-S1 where I had my fusion in 2012 states slight retrolisthesis of L5. Severe disc space narrowing. What are my options, or do I live in 24-7 severe pain. I do not want pain medication. I take muscle relaxers only.
It shows PIVD I.e a slip disc in normal language. Due to bad posturing and sheer forces and external trauma, there is disc bulging with decreased intervertebral space and pressure on the nerve roots originating from the spinal column. This causes neuropathic radicular pain. You need physiotherapy, life style modification, bed rest, analgesic, hot fomenting and antidepressants. See your neurologist immediately.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Ajeet Singh, General & Family Physician
