What Does This MRI Test Result For Concussion Indicate?
Was in an auto accident 8 months ago have had a constant headache, thought it was due to the concussion, according to my doc. MRI states: mucosal thickening is present in the maxillary, ethmoid, and frontal air cells. what does this mean ? The mastoid air cells are normal.
Hello and welcome to HCM, Mucosal thickening in the maxillary, ethmoid and frontal cells are suggestive of inflammation of mucosal lining of para-nasal sinuses. Mucosal thickening of para-nasal lining occurs in case of chronic sinusitis. Sinusitis is often accompanied by headache thus, the headache that you are experiencing could be due to sinusitis. The accident that you had in past is the probable cause of headache. Clear mastoid cells rule out the possibility of ear infection. Thus, you need to consult an ENT specialist for management of sinusitis.
