What Does This MRI Test Result For Mild Pain In Neck And Shoulder Indicate?

I had an MRI done and it reads disc osteophyte complex effacing the CSF space surrounding the cervical spinal cord. There has been a fusion in this area of C-3 C-4, as well as C4 through C7. With the current problem in C3-C4, i have a dull pain in neck which radiates to shoulders ,down arms. What are your thoughts on this problem. It hurts so bad,i want to have surgery to get feeling back in my hands and ease the pain

Hello,

You are experiencing mild pain in the neck and shoulder. Fusion has been detected in MRI in the area of C-3, C-4 through C7. It is indicative of weakened cervical spine due to which bony projections tend to form as degeneration of the disc occurs. They may start to impinge on nerve root causing pain that may radiate to the shoulders.

Treatment can be done by a combination of physical therapy, massage therapy, medications, acupuncture, mild exercises, etc. You are suggested to get clinically examined by an Orthopedic. Get evaluated by him, sometimes manipulation helps. Hot and cold therapy and electrical stimulation helps. Steroid injections and surgery may help alleviate the symptoms.

Stay away from addictions if any. Include anti inflammatory food in your regular diet. You are suggested to take naproxen, one SOS, when in pain , discomfort and soreness. You will get relieve.
