What Does This MRI Test Result For Numbness In Arm And Fingers Indicate?

Several months ago I was rear ended in an auto accident. I went to the er with neck and shoulder pain and was told my shoulder was sprained. Weeks later i began to feel tingling and numbness in my arm and fingers. After getting the run around from insurance companies, I decided to hire an attorney who wanted me to get an MRI. The MRI showed I had bone spurs in my c5/c6. Could this have been from the accident? If not, why had I not had symptoms before the wreck?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It can be a congenital one and unlikely related to your accident. The protruding bone may be compressing the nerve roots and leads to the symptoms. Consult an orthopedic and get evaluated. Drugs like gabapentin will be very much effective for this condition.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
