What Does This MRI Test Result For Pelvis Indicate?

They performed an MRI and found two dominant right hemipelvic complex cystic masses statiscally of adnexal origin reflecting atypical endometriomas versus cystic neoplasm with hemorrhagic / proteinaceous products. Since the possibility of a left sided unicorn uste is raised, it is possible that the 5.3x5cm thick walled right sides cystic mass reflects an occluded rudimentary horn of a dideslphys uterus and that the 9.0x6.5 multiloculated cystic mass reflects a large hydrosalpinx

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

The MRI says that they found two complex bulges in the pelvic region and they are trying to distinguish them based on available statically probability with the underlying situation they found. According to them the masses / bulges may be from remains of extra tissue which never formed into ovary which is more likely due to evidence they see as uterus seem like a unicorn with a horn being a malformed extra uterus not completely formed (rudimentary).

Basically the person has two uterus formed during the embryonic stage which is rare and one of them failed to become the complete uterus and seen as horn. The incomplete uterus does gave rise to incomplete fallopian tube and ovary. Thus, in short, the RADIOLOGIST is trying to guess that the masses currently found are from the incompletely formed fallopian tube or ovarian tissue.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Jay Patel, General & Family Physician
