What Does This MRI Test Result For Swollen Veins In Knee Indicate?
Hi, I injured my knee 5 months ago playing soccer, and I am still having problems with it. Had an MRI done 2 months ago and it came back showing a partial tear to my ACL, partial tear to my meniscus and bone bruising. I ve had a vein bulging in my knee since it happened and the veins around my knee, down my shin and up my thigh are slightly swollen and warm to touch. Should this be a concern?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
HI, I understand your concern. The swollen veins, swelling warmth on the knee joint are signs of inflammation. The MRI findings showing tissue damage at various levels in the joint demand immediate care. please consult an orthopedic surgeon earliest. Cold pack/ rest to the part/ over the counter Ibuprofen pill after food would give some relief till you can seek doctor's appointment. Thanks.
