I just got my MRI done, this is what the technical said: Horizontal oblique tear of the body and posterior horn of the medial meniscus. There is associated 7 mm para meniscal cyst just medial to the tibial insertion site of the PCL. There is a second 1 cm in height 8 mm in AP length and 1.8 cm in width posterior medial parameniscal cyst.Do you think i need surgery, i have an appointment with my Ortho end of next week. Just wanted some advice beforehand

Hello and welcome to HCM,
The MRI report shows presence of tears in the medial meniscus.
Medial meniscus is C-shaped cartilage attached to upper surface of tibia.
Medial meniscus is a cartilaginous structure which provides lubrication to the knee joint.
Tears in the meniscus are managed by surgery.
Since, the meniscus is an avascular structure healing is very slow and incomplete.
Thus, surgical intervention has to be done.
Para-meniscal cyst can also be managed surgically.

Thanks and take care
