Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
hi my baby kidneys are normal in size.Renal parenchyma and cortico - medullary diffenciation are normal.Bilateral renal pelvis is minimally prominent and measured 5.5 mm in AP diameter. Ureters are not dilated. This is the result which i got in my TIFFA scan report .Is it complicated.pls help me..
TIFFA (Targeted imaging for fetal anomalies) scan which is usually performed at 18–23 weeks of pregnancy allows examination of the external and internal anatomy of the fetus and the detection of not only major defects but also of subtle markers of chromosomal abnormalities and genetic syndromes.
The normal AP diameter ( ‘front to back’ measurement) of the renal pelvis is 0-7 mm before 24 weeks and less than 10 mm after 28 weeks. If the measurement is more than this, it is called renal pelvic dilatation.
The given TIFFAN scan report appears to be normal, however, it should be repeated on follow up. You will have a follow-up scan in the fetal medicine unit at about 28-34 weeks of pregnancy.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali
