Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My Vitamin B12 test result is 1206pg/mL Folate Serum is 24.0 ng/mL unless Im reading this wrong - its directlate accress from Folte Serum Underneath is has the Low/Borderline /Normal ranges - which would mean Im very high. I take a Multiple B and B12 daily.... What does this mean?
Hello dear, Understand your concern. Normal serum folate level: 2.76-20.0 ng/ml Normal serum vitamin B12 level: 239.0-931.0 pg/ml. Your Vitamin B12 and Folate is higher. I think it is due to oral intake of vitamin and folate tablet. It may be high in person with MTHFR mutation. So please test for MTHFR gene test at near genetic center. Also test: homo cysteine, lipid profile, methyl melonic acid to exclude other cause. Stop the taking tablet.
Hope this may help you. Best regards Dr. Sagar
