Hello and welcome to HCM,
Total leukocyte count of 56,000 is quite high and needs to be investigated.
High leukocyte count is seen in infection, inflammation and leukemia.
A total leukocyte count of 56,000 can be due to infection, however, leukemia needs to be ruled out.
I suggest you to get a complete blood hemogram and peripheral blood smear examination.
In case any abnormal blood cell is present, it will show up on peripheral blood smear examination.
In addition, a clinical assessment is required to look for any lump or enlarged lymph node.
Leukemias are often associated with lymph node enlargement.
In case of lymph node enlargement, an aspiration cytology of enlarged lymph node will be helpful to determine the nature of the lesion and thus plan its management.

Thanks and take care
