What Does This X Ray And MRI Report Indicate?

Dear Sir, I would like to discuss about my mother s condition. She is suffering back pain since last 9 months. first we did Xray in the month of july and the Xray report shows L-5 Vertebra with spondyolostheis (Grade-1) of L-5 over S-1 Vertebra. but after medications she didn t get any relief and her pain was going to unbearable so we consult one more dr and he advice to do MRI and we did in the month of OCT. MRI report Says:- Spondylisis at L5 with Grade 2 anterior listhesis of L5 over s1 vertebral body and pseudobulging of L5-s1 intervertebral disc causing compression over ventral aspect of lumber dural theca and exiting nerve roots . she is unable to sleep in the night in day time she is feeling better and her pain is coming to her leg. please suggest what we can do. Regards, Khushbu

Hello,
Wellcome to HCM
The both x ray and MRI report tells that there is problem in the spine at L5-S1 level. MRI being a better study tells in detail that there is significant anterior displacement of the L5 vertebra over S1 due to break in the pars interarticularis.
Because of this break the inter-vertebral disc has got disturbed and its compressing the lumbar dural theca and exiting nerve roots. These exiting nerves supply the legs and thats why the patient is feeling pain in legs and low back.

I will suggest you to meet the expert for spine, the orthopedician for further coarse of action. There could be a need for fixation of the spine or removal of part of the disc bulging to receive the compression and stabilise the joint.
An orthopedician is a right choice for you.
