Hi,

The findings on your x-ray suggest an area of inflammation or infection in the apical (top) portion of your right lung. PTB stands for "pulmonary tuberculosis," a type of lung infection caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. The word "infiltrates" suggests an area of abnormal density within the lung tissue, which can be caused by fluid, inflammation, or infection.

The "uncertain activity" likely means that the radiologist could not determine whether the infiltrate is active or inactive tuberculosis, which is consistent with your laboratory test result of "No acid-fast bacilli seen." This means that the bacteria that cause tuberculosis were not seen in the sputum sample.

This is only a preliminary diagnosis based on imaging. Further testing and clinical evaluation may be needed to confirm the diagnosis and determine the most appropriate course of treatment. It would be best for you to follow up with your doctor to discuss the results of your X-ray and laboratory tests and determine the next steps in your care.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
