Hi,Two years ago I had increasing pain in my right foot. After several months, I finally saw a doctor and was told I had a fourth metatarsal bone legion and needed to be removed with bone grafting. I couldn t affordable that doc, so I went to see another doc. I had asked him about bone grafting, but he said he would just cut out the bone. I trusted him, but after a short time and lots of pain, I realized not only was it the wrong decision, but it wasn t done right. I definitely felt butchered. I went back to the original doc for a consult and he said it wasn t done right and needed an external fixator. I found a doc that takes my insurance and had my first exfix. At the end of the 5th month, it was removed and was reminded I needed 2 separate exfix s because the there were 2 separate sections. In Dec 2014, I had my second one and have had one complication after the other. First, he put the wrong side exfix and it collapsed 8 weeks into it. Second, had to have an additional op to move the pins so the exfix would work. Then, he applied 2 pins too deeply and were coming out through the bottom of my foot. I had to go back in 2 times to have the pins backed out enough to solve the problem and ease the pain. This doc says I need the bone grafting after all as now I have about 2 inches of space to fill as well as replace the metatarsal head. I ve been having severe pain the past week that is increasing. It looks like a pin infection and leaning pins. Had new x-rays yesterday and the back of the bone closest to my ankle has started floating sideways towards my 5th metatarsal. I am waiting for my final op, but don t think I can trust this doc any longer. I m in severe pain that feels like post op pain. Is this floating bone causing pain and should I run from this doctor?
