hi my cousin s xray results shows nodulo-hazed densities in both upper lobes with interspersed cystic lucensies and left hilar traction. what does this mean? Impression: Bilateral upper lobe pyb with probable cavitations and/or bronchiectactic changes and left upper lobe partial volume loss - what does this mean? is this contagious?
Nodulo-hazy opacities in both upper lobes with cystic lucencies and traction of left hilum indicate fibrosis with bronchiectasis. Bronchiectasis indicate loss of lung tissue and fibrosis indicate past healed infection.Infection naturally heals by infection. Bronchiectasis indicate loss of lung volume. Generally this is not contagious. It generally indicate past infection. However active infection inside it may be contagious, this should be ruled out.
