Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi doctor .. My mother has to undergo X-ray due to continuous coughing. When done the report say as below: Large homogeneous opacity notes in left cardiac, lower zone probably residual leison. Multiple nodular opacity noted in lungs-?metastases Left CP angle appears blunted. Ill defined opacity noted in left lower zone? With obliteration of diaphragmatic margin?pneumonitis. What does this mean .. Is this anything serious to worry. She is currently having a monthly check up and X-ray review as suggested by current pulmonologist. We are worried is it a cancer symptom. Appreciate your advises and guidance.
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Findings if the x-ray suggests there are lesions present, which is suggestive of secondaries, caused due to metastasis of primary cancer, present elsewhere in the body. Hence, she needs to undergo further investigations like PET scan to detect cancer and various lesions in the body, so that it could be appropriately staged and treated accordingly. Kindly consult Medical Oncologist for proper evaluation and treatment. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
