What Does This X-ray Report Indicate?

Hi to all doctors online here..my sister had a problem she suffer to much cough ...the xray result is ...tiny calcific density overlying the 4th right posterior rib maybe perenchymal calcified granuloma versus osseous in origin bone island..i dont understand what it means...pls help me to explain...how to cure this kind of problem?because im worried now.thank you so much n more power..

Hi,

Noted the history related to your sister about too much cough, X-ray chest report saying about tiny calcified density overlying 4 rib posteriorly suggestive of parenchymal calcified granuloma or osseous in origin.

First of all, such a tiny lesion does not cause too much coughing. Hence I would advise your sister further investigations:
CT scan to confirm the cause of coughing, to find out what is the calcified lesion is.
Tests of blood.
Tests of the sputum/expectoration.
Clinical examination by a Pulmonologist.

All these will lead to a proper diagnosis and thus gives a proper plan of management. Going into technical details will not help you much but a proper diagnosis and management will.
