Hi. My mother has this xray result: There is right basal pleural widening obscuring the right sulcus and peripheralright hemidiaphragm probably due to minimal bilateral pleural effusion and/or thickening. The left sulcus is blunted . Findings: There are hazy densities in the right lung, which maybe due to pneumonia, tuberculous etiology, cannot be ruled out. A right upper lobe neoplastic nodule also cannot be ruled out
Let me assure you first of all that your mother is fine and need not to panic.
The results point towards the diagnosis of a infection causing either fluid accumulation in the pleura covering the lungs or thickening of pleura. Also the diagnosis of tumor in right upper lobe of lung is suspected.
So kindly get a Contrast enhanced CT scan of Chest done, as it will give a more accurate diagnosis of the disease and hence treatment can be planned accordingly.
Hope i answered your questions.
Wish you a healthy life.
Regards, Dr.Arun Prasad.
