Hello Kellie,
Welcome to HCM
Going with answers to your questions
1) DJD means-
degenerative joint disease, mild DJD is, therefore, mild degenerative changes in the right acetabulum area. (Mild
osteoarthritis Hip)
2) whether you should visit an orthopedic surgeon or not depends on x-ray picture and also on certain other factors I will answer it later.
3)
Pelvic inflammatory disease would have been an issue if you were having- white/yellow/green foul-smelling
vaginal discharge, burning sensation while urination, dull pain in stomach or below umbilicus area, fever, nausea etc.
It would have helped in discussing treatment part if your age would have been mentioned in this query
My current recommendation are
1) Over the counter painkiller for pain relief.
2) lifestyle modifications
Avoid stressful activities causing exacerbation of pain.
weight reduction if it's above limits- excess weight puts more pressure on hips and knees.
There is a great range of exercises to stretch hip joint maintaining
muscle tone, muscle strengthening also decreases wear and tear of joint
cartilage and helping in some patients.
If you have tried these and still have no relief with symptoms visit Gynaecologist as well as Orthopedician. your symptoms could be due to PID and mild DJD Acetabular changes could be an incidental finding. The gynaecologist will treat PID and orthopedics will help in preventing progression of OseteoArthritis Hip. It can also be another way round where OBG specialist will rule out PID and orthopaedician will treat the DYD. The only way to confirm is a physical examination.
