What Does This Abdominal Ultrasound Report Indicate?
Hi.my uncle has a liver problem.he had done a abdominal ultrasound.the ultrasound report is enlarge liver dr had given me advise to do the cect test.can u please tell me what are the causes of liver enlargment.any perticular dite he have to take .what treatment we have to do forhim.
Ultrasound just says enlarged liver. But we need few more details to ascertain the cause- including what all symptoms he is having like abdominal pain / distension / jaundice / edema and for how long? Any associated fever or alcohol intake?
Common causes are viral hepatitis, fatty liver, alcoholic liver disease and chronic liver disease. To comment on treatment options, we need to find out the cause first, based on above details, examination findings and few blood tests (liver function tests and viral serology at least). Kindly get back with said details, so that I can guide you further. Meanwhile let him take a diet rich in fibres(fruits and vegetables) and less in animal fat.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam T. K., Pediatrician
