Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi Doctor, My wife is going through her 18th Week and we did a Anomaly scan yesterday. Before this all reports according to doctor were good. To our surprise the Anomaly scan shows a Bend in the right Femur bone. The left and right bone have a difference in size of few Millimeters as well. Yesterday they said it could be disease called osteogenesis imperfecta today they said its Femoral Displacia . Again the doctors are not sure what is going on as they say its very very rare to see a bent bone. They asked us to take a second opinion. They also highlighted about termination yesterday as its not yet 20 weeks (Un-lawful after 20 weeks in India), but today they denied saying it wasn t OI disease. We are not sure what to do... Can you please help and suggest.. Will this cure by itself in the coming weeks, Get more worse, is this curable after the baby is born? Will it have any effect on baby walk? I asked Fortis about this but they said we have to wait and watch as they are not sure... I dont want baby having any issues if abortion is required we are ready for it but it has to be done in a week time as after 20th week it s not allowed

What Does This Anomaly Scan Report Signify?
Hello, Osteogenesis imperfects is not a curable condition. Small bend in anomaly scan does not indicates osteogenesis imperfecta. You can go for a repeat scan to confirm the diagnosis. Consult a fetal medicine specialist to make a diagnosis. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Take care Regards, Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
