1.There is a disc between the
vertebral bodies helps as a
shock absorber effect, the disc contains maximum percentage of water, due to degenerative changes when the water content / hydration is lost the disc slips / bulges and also causes endplate changes.
2.L5-S1 level there is reduced disc height is seen when disc desiccation /loss of hydration is seen.

Modic changes seen on MRI when the disc gets herniated in to the vertebral body as an indentation.
4.There is an pressure effect on the
nerve at the level of S1.
