Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had iui on sept 9 , test sept 24 , very faint second line . Sept 25 -Tested again next day , second line was not as faint . Sept 26- Tested third day with digital test and got positive. Also started brown spotting same day which lasted until yesterday. Sept 28 - blood test showed beta hcg 96 Sept 30 - 206 Oct 2- 305 Do low beta always mean miscarriage ? Is it possible that I may carry to term?
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Urine pregnancy test is not that reliable after undergoing assisted reproductive procedures like IUI or IVF. Serial measurements of serum beta hCG levels seems to be more reliable. In general, the HCG level will double every 2-3 days in early pregnancy. Pregnancies destined to miscarry and ectopic (tubal) pregnancies tend to normal levels initially and eventually show lower levels. Also, to know the status of pregnancy and its progression, ultrasound abdomen has to be done. Kindly consult Gynecologist with the report for evaluation and management. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
