What Does This Blood Report Indicate?
I have had Hashimoto s for 27 years and I still don t understand my results...my blood test this morning shows a TSH of .185--I m currently on Synthroid .100mcg 1xdaily--my result one month ago for the TSH was .156-at that time I was on .118 mcg. -he said my tsh was low--how do I read these things? TSH comes from a gland in the brain called the pituitary, it causes the thyroid gland in the neck to make the thyroid hormone.
When thyroid hormone levels are low, a message goes to the pituitary to make more TSH so it can stimulate the thyroid gland. (so low thyroid hormones cause high tsh)
When thyroid hormone levels are high, a message goes to the pituitary to decrease the tsh levels. ( so high thyroid hormones, low tsh)
Your low TSH mean that you thyroid hormones may be high.
