What Does This Blood Report Indicate?

Hi I am worried about my mum s urea . We got blood reports recently, Reports showing 22.8 mmol/L urea, Creat is 306 umol/L and eGFR 15 mL/min. Doctor is saying, urea amount is too high and need to do dialysis . so I am just wondering can be do something that my mum s urea will recover without dialysis. Any food that be need to avoid or any dietary comments please. Another thing she got swelling in her right foot from two days. this is happened first time. when she get medication she feel sleepy whole day and got pain in chest as well shoulders. she feel better without medication. Thanks.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The creatinine is also high, the increase in both values combined with a decrease in the levels GFR (how well the kidneys can filter out the toxins from the body), means that she has kidney failure.

Though there are diet changes needed, none of these would fix the kidney failure and could replace dialysis.
A renal/kidney diet controls the amount of protein and phosphorus used.

It also looks at food with calcium, potassium and sodium, the levels of these electrolytes can also be abnormal in persons with kidney disease.
A nutritionist would be the best person to advise re diet but as mentioned earlier, diet changes cannot replace dialysis

I hope this helps
