Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Doctor...I go to gym, where I m said to eat more calories.I d tested Fasting plasma glucose And it is 100.57 which he said is normal.(WHO uptil 110) but according to ADA it should be between 80 to 100..I m worried about prediabetes. And what should i do..gym along with eating more calories or...weight loss?
This reading of your fasting plasma glucose is almost in normal range. Different health authorities accept upper limit as differently. This may differ from 100 to 110.
Otherwise also, just by one reading of glucose level on a marginal increase does not label you to be pre-diabetic. Still, if you are apprehensive about this, then HbA1c level is taken as a predictor of your diabetic status. Hence you may get your HbA1c level checked to see your status. A healthy life style including normal exercise and healthy diet with less fats and moderate amount of sugars & adequate intake of vegetables and fruits, will protect you from being a diabetic.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Satnarain Bansal, General & Family Physician
