Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi my doctor drew some blood to run some test on me to see if I was in the menopause stage and/or pregnant. The first 2 results that I got from the hospital’s website were FSH 1.6 and LH 1.3 and TSH, 3rd Generation W/Reflex To FT4 at .59. I am sure that my doctor will call me once all of the test results are in but I am anxious to find out what these mean. Can you help?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Priyanka's Response
Hi,
The two test results FSH (follicle-stimulating hormone) 1.6 mIU/mL and LH (luteinizing hormone) 1.3 mIU/mL, are commonly used to assess menopausal status in women. Elevated FSH levels and low LH levels suggest that you may be in the menopausal stage.
The TSH (thyroid-stimulating hormone) result at .59 mIU/L is within the normal range and suggests that your thyroid gland functions normally. I want to let you know that these test results should be interpreted in the context of your overall health and symptoms and any additional test results. A healthcare professional can provide a complete interpretation of your test results.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
