Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had a blood test done and my hs-CRP came back a 10.4 and it is considered that anything over 2.9 is high risk. Also, my MTHFR (C677T) result came back a T/T also a high risk. The doctor recommended Deplin - L-Mehtylfolate, but I cannot afford Deplin as my insurance doesn t cover it. Can you tell me what these numbers mean and what you would recommend I do to bring them down?
It means unfortunately that you may be at high risk of heart disease and stroke.
You would need to look at your other risk factors eg blood pressure, blood sugar, family history of heart disease, smoking, kidney disease, cholesterol level, circulation in the legs.
If you are at risk, you need to consider using a statin to help reduce your cholesterol to a very low level.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Michelle Gibson James, General & Family Physician
