Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Does This Blood Test Result For Frequent UTI Indicate?
I only have one kidney and I just had a blood test show that I have low hemoglobin, hematocrit and rbc. I do not have low iron. My kidney is normally functioning fine, but I do have a lot of uti s. My remaining kidney is enlarged, of course, but it s to the point that it grew an additional chamber and is tilted to fit into it s space.
Kidneys do produce something called Erythropoitin which causes synthesis of RBC in bone marrow. With just one functioning kidney that is overloaded with work and often with UTi, u might be having an anaemia of chronic disease. Yo may consult your kidney specialist to consider for erythropoitin injections
