Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Does This Blood Test Result For Swelling And Pain In Knee Indicate?
I have ESR value as 46mm/hr. I have been having swelling in my left knee for about 6 months since I had a fall at that time. I have never done a long walk before but used to keep fit with Zumba/swimming/yoga. All of a sudden I started to walk or run 5-7 miles a day in cold country( UK and I am an Indian) for about 4 months around the same time. There was a time where I couldnt lift my left knee or bend backward or had lot of pain when getting up from sitting. Now I can lift or bend a little and no pain while getting up but I am still not normal ( cant walk fast or run or swim or do stairs with left leg ). Dr asked me to go for blood test and the report shows ESR as 46 and vitamin D as 26ng/ml. What does this show? Now I have started to get light pain in my right knee too when I walk up or down the ramp ( I am not able to sit down or cross leg or use stairs.) Can you pls help me to understand what is happening to me?
