What Does This Blood Test Result For Vertical Line On Nails Indicate?
I went to the Dr because on my thumb nail I have a vertical line on in. I don t believe it s from smashing and from what I read it could be some type of cancer. So the dr took some blood and everything came back normal except my Lymphs (Absolute) was a little high range is .7-3.1 and mine was 3.6. Any cause for concern? Dr said will just have to keep an eye on it but probably was an infection
Ridges in nails is usually a sign of aging. Slight vertical ridges on nails often develop in older adults. Some times they may be an indication of some underlying condition like diabetes or some nutritional deficiency particularly iron, vitamin A, vitamin B, vitamin B12 or keratin.
Of course, rarely, the ridges on nails, can be due to melanoma a dangerous cancer of the nails. However, here the ridges are of dark color. Therefore, if we see dark, wide lines on nails, then this should be immediately looked for, to confirm / rule out presence of melanoma.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
