General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello Dear. Alkaline phosphatases (ALP) is an enzyme which is present in many human tissues, including bone, intestine, kidney, liver, placenta and white blood cells. Damage to these tissues causes the release of ALP into the bloodstream.

Most common possibility of raised alkaline phosphatase is liver damage. Infections like hepatitis, or sometimes long term use of some medications (Like metal containing ayurvedic medicines) can cause raised ALP. Kindly ask your friend to consult a allopathic physician who will take detailed history, examine her to see if there is hepatomegaly (enlarged liver) and also may suggest undergoing Ultrasonography of abdomen Or CT Scan if required.

Hope i have answered your question. Feel free to contact me if you have any more questions. I ll be glad to help you.
All the best
With warm regards
