What Does This Blood Test Result While On Levothyroxine Indicate?
My MPV is 11.9 - blood test taken 5-2-16 My MPV - 11.0 taken 12/12/15 Platelet count 155 Platelet count 183 I am a 70 year old female....very active 144 lbs 5 7 the only medication I take is levothyroxine....2 months ago my dosage was increased from 80 mcg to 100 along with supplements....vit d (4000 IU) and calcium 800 Should I be concerned re. my MPV Could it be caused by the increased dose of levothyroxine? thank you YYYY@YYYY
One has to evaluate labs based on the lab normals. Furthermore, the distribution of the numbers is important. The MPV varies with age and gender and the labs never actually mention the age issue.
A large change would mean more even if all values are in the normal range. 11.0 doesn't SEEM all that abnormal. and it doesn't have much to do with thyroid, so, with an adjustment of thyroid which usually goes DOWN with age, getting a repeated value after being on it a while would be the usual practice.
