What Does This Bone Marrow Biopsy Report Indicate?

My brother is HIV positive with severe anemia. His hematocrit is 14 and needs blood transfusion every 2 weeks. After many tests and bone marrow biopsy, he is diagnosed with possible MDS : % blasts is low, abnormal chromosomes 47 XY+ 21, low - moderate risk. His CD4 is over 500, his viral load is undetectable , no parovirus 19, spleen, kidney, liver, B12, all normal. His hematologist recommended high dose of erythropoietin , chemo lite on Vidaza or IVIG infusion. What should he do? We are desperate , what we have read doesn t look very encouraging!!! Please advise.
