What Does This Brain MRI Test Result Indicate?
I am an individual with Spina Bifida, hydrocephalus treated with a Ventriculoperitoneal Shunt, and Chiari Malformation Type 2. I recently had an MRI of my brain due to a possible shunt malfunction. The report states there is mild prominence of the extra-axial CSF spaces surrounding the cerebellar hemispheres. Is this something I should be concerned about and what does it mean?

There is slight bulging in the fluid filled spaces in the brain. It indicates slight problem with the shunt. Consult a neurosurgeon and get evaluated.
