I m a 56 yo female and have had high cholesterol since I was in my 20s. At 25, the total was 203. I don t remember the breakdown. In 2015, my total was 289, HDL 61, LDL 183, Triglycerides 223. In 2017, my total was 316, HDL 67, LDL 194, Triglycerides 271. This year I had a Calcium scoring CT, which was 6.31 in the LAD, other vessels were 0. Minimal calcified plaque in the proximal LAD. I also had a Carotid Ultrasound which showed Right-focal smooth soft plaque in the bulb extending into the ostium of the internal carotid artery with normal color flow and Doppler signals and Left-normal color flow and Doppler with focal heterogenous plaque in the bulb. The doctor suggested Statins, but I won t take them. She also suggested Ketia, but I read that it interacts with Warfarin, which I m on for a mechanical mitral valve, and Colestid, which I m on for Lymphocytic Colitis. I really don t feel that my ultrasound is that bad considering I ve had high cholesterol for over 30 years. What do you think?
