What Does This Chest X-ray Of An Elderly Patient Indicate?
Brought my 95 year old mother to Dr because of cough lasting 3+ days and sputum yellowish-greenish in color. He said chest x-ray showed shadow indicating possible pheumonia and is treating her for such. She had rheumatic fever as a child and told me she has always had a shadow. I found results of a 2010 chest X-ray that says The cardiac silhouette is mild to moderately enlarged likely reflecting cardiomegaly, pericardial effusion, or both. There is a mild perihilar interstitial prominence. There is no evidence of edema or pheumonia. Does perhiilar interstitial prominence indicate that a shadow was present in 2010 and, if so, is it possible that this is what her current doctor sees?
