Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I was asked to get a chest exray, the results came in stating the heart shadow is not enlarged (CTR 0.44), has a left ventricular configuration and there is no congestive cardiac failure , there is minor scoloiosis convex to the right side in the upper thoraic region and several thoracic vertebrae show up to 20% loss of height? insuffiency with mild resultant kyphosis.
I am not aware of your symptoms and why an X-ray was ordered. The report anyhow says that your lung and cardiac shadows are normal. However, vertebral bones in upper back shows some defect (shortening), resulting in curvature of spine (kyphosis).
Clinical significance depends on reason for vertebral shortening, any obvious curvature of spine and symptoms like back pain. Your doctor will discuss with you.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam T. K., Pediatrician
